What Darren Plays

Hi there! My name is Darren and I run the What Darren Plays YouTube channel! I’m UK based, but originally from Ireland, and have been a full time content creator for over seven years.

My primary content is playthroughs for Strategy Games or similar, such as RTS, 4X, City Builders or other historical games. I’m also a big fan of FPS games and creative games in general.

My type of content:

• Brand safe: No swearing, No political commentary, No “opinions” in my content, usually just playing the game.

• Friendly attitude, with a relaxing tone. My content has been described as “chill” with almost a Bob Ross-esque quality.

• Great at explaining things. I can break down complex games in a very beginner friendly way that’s enjoyable to watch.

• I generally play things I really enjoy, and stick to a few series for a long time rather than lots of different games.

Preferred types of Sponsorships

Integrations
As my content is primarily serialized, my preferred type of sponsorship is 20-60sec integrations within the first 10 minutes of videos. Its typically preferential to start a sponsorship with a new series, and spread the ads across several videos for the best impact. These can be virtually anything, but ideally I like to choose things that would best fit my audience demographic.

Full Dedicated Videos (Currently Unavailable)
Rather than one off dedicated videos, I try to encourage sponsoring an entire series. Standalone videos do not nearly view as well as series, so it seems better from my perspective to either sponsor a series, or go with integrations in an existing series. For a series, I don’t just hit record and play, I plan out how best to show off a games mechanics for many hours beforehand, often setting things up so all of the best game features can be seen at once.

Other brand deals
I’m open to brand sponsorships but I always insist that I try the product before agreeing to anything. I don’t currently have any ongoing long-term affiliated brand deals, but I have in the past worked with Manscaped, Ekster and Cold Pressed CBD for a limited time, and I’m in the process of working with Manscaped.
